The Fleur de Lis: Our Symbol of Hope
In 2005 Virginia returned to New Orleans life underwater. As Vice President of Mignon Faget, Ltd., she was facing a massive company challenge - laying off 72 of the 80 employees and seeking a way to market local luxury to an empty city. As a resident of the Broadmoor neighborhood she was dealing with ten feet of flood water in her home and city plans for demolition of her entire neighborhood. As Creative Director of the satirical Krewe of Muses she was determined to see the parade roll in February 2006 and trying to find the humor in the misery.
